Frequently Asked Questions

Is the treatment going to hurt?

We do everything possible to make sure that you are not uncomfortable when you receive your dental care.  To numb your mouth, for example, we will first apply a topical anesthetic.  Then we use a special tool called a VibraJect, which vibrates on your gum, distracting the nerve so you don’t feel the injection.

How much is my dental care going to cost?

It’s important to us that you have the dental care that you want and need, so we’ll work with you to fit it into your budget. Before you receive any treatment we’ll make sure that you completely understand your financial responsibility.  We routinely get pretreatment authorizations, so we can tell you what your share of the cost is going to be.  We also have low interest payment plans available through Patient Link.

Can I see ahead of time what I’m going to look like?

Yes!  With our computer imaging software we’ll be able to take a picture of you and then change that image so you can see what you’ll look like after your dental treatments.  You’ll get to see how beautiful your smile can be!

What do I do in case of a dental emergency?

Call our office right away.  If it’s after hours, the answering service will reach Dr. Mahoney or a member of his staff so one of them can get in touch with you as soon as possible.

How can I safely whiten my teeth?

There are two ways that you can achieve a bright, white smile.  If you want immediate results in just a few hours, the Zoom2 in-office whitening system may be the best choice for you. You can achieve similar results over four to six nights with at-home whitening trays.  We’ll be happy to talk with you about which option would be the best for you.

Do you use mercury fillings?

We prefer to use composite, tooth-colored fillings, which are healthier for your teeth and look more natural and more attractive too.
