Our office is specially designed to provide a non-threatening environment for nervous or dental-phobic patients! Before we built it, we worked with an architect to ensure that the space was laid out to make people feel comfortable from the time they enter.
As you come into our office, you have room to decide if you want to go directly to the front desk or settle yourself first into the comfy, living-room-like reception room. You won't have to make your way through other patients waiting, or talk about your business in front of other people. When it's time for your appointment, you'll feel relaxed in the bright, open operatories, which feature many windows, skylights and plants.
This office design reflects our complete commitment to making your visit as pleasant and stress free as possible.
Aesthetic & Restorative Work
We will restore and enhance the natural beauty of your smile.
- Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin porcelain shells that are bonded to your teeth. They can be used to solve many smile problems, including chipped, stained, discolored, unevenly spaced, or slightly crooked teeth. Porcelain veneers are translucent, so they look natural; your smile will look cleaner, brighter and more attractive.
Dr. Mahoney frequently uses porcelain veneers to provide a completely improved and dazzling smile in as few as two appointments. We will be glad to evaluate your specific situation to see if veneers are appropriate for you and show you examples of what you could expect.
- Zoom2 in-office whitening or at-home tray whitening (As seen on Extreme Makeover!)
The Zoom! In-Office Whitening System is a revolutionary tooth whitening procedure-safe, fast and effective. In just under two hours, your teeth will be dramatically whiter. It's a perfect choice for busy people who want immediate results!
After Zoom's proprietary whitening gel is applied, it is activated by a specially designed light. Teeth typically become at least six to ten shades whiter, sometimes more. You will be amazed with the results! In most cases, your teeth will get even whiter the first few days after the procedure.
- Invisalign invisible braces
Invisalign? is the "invisible" way to straighten your teeth without wearing conventional metal braces. The comfortable, convenient system uses a series of clear, removable custom-made aligners to move your teeth. Because you remove your aligners before you eat and drink, there are no food restrictions or problems with flossing or brushing.
Dr. Mahoney will use Invisalign's 3-D computer imaging technology to design the complete treatment plan, from the initial teeth positioning to the desired final positioning. You'll wear each aligner about two weeks.
Call our office for an evaluation to see if you can be helped with this exciting new technology.
- Cerec same day crowns
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration in Esthetic Ceramics) is a high-quality system that allows us to restore damaged teeth in a single visit. We use ceramic and metal-free materials, matching them to your own teeth. CEREC provides a quality, long-lasting alternative to traditional dental molds and repeat visits for crown treatments.
- Biolase laser system for sculpting gum tissue
In our office we use the Biolase laser for tissue contouring and for periodontal treatments. A laser is a powerful, predictable tool when it's in the hands of a skilled professional like Dr. Mahoney. The laser beam can be precisely directed to only the tissues needing treatment; it virtually eliminates bleeding while sterilizing the area at the same time. All of this translates to higher quality treatments, better outcomes, and greater comfort for patients.
- Crowns, bridges, partial dentures
We can bring back your healthy, natural-looking smile with crowns. A crown is the most durable, strongest way to restore a tooth with extensive damage. Crowns can be used to correct bite problems, close spaces between teeth, or replace missing teeth permanently, as part of a bridge, or over an implant. Thanks to modern dental materials, crowns can look totally natural.
- Implant restorations
Implants can be a great choice when permanent teeth are lost. They are superior to other choices because they are solid, secure, and esthetic.
An implant is special surgical grade titanium post, manufactured to highly precise specifications, which is inserted surgically into the jawbone below the gum surface. As the bone bonds to the post, it forms a secure foundation onto which your new teeth are then attached and shaped to match your mouth. Implants can help replace a single tooth, or a full set of teeth.
- Computer imaging
If you'd like to improve your smile, but are hesitant because you're not sure how you'll look when we're done, we can help! Our digital imaging technology allows us to create images of your mouth, as if the cosmetic procedures have been completed. We can then view these images together, and if necessary modify the image until it shows us exactly what you want.
- Digital radiography [x-rays]
We use digital radiographs in our office instead of traditional x-rays because they offer many advantages. Digital radiographs reduce your exposure to radiation by as much as 90 percent while providing us clear, easily stored (and easily recalled) images. Digital radiographs magnify images so we can clearly read and diagnose any problems while they are in their earliest stages.
Because the results of digital radiographs are available immediately, we can quickly retake any problem image, so you don't have to spend more time waiting in the chair. We can also send them via email to specialists for consultation if necessary.
Digital radiographs are more environmentally friendly because we don't have to use harsh chemicals to develop film as we do with traditional x-rays.
General Dentistry
We work with you to keep your teeth and gums healthy and functioning well.
- Hygiene and preventive care
Building a healthy foundation is the first step in ensuring a long-lasting, dazzling smile. Our hygienists have worked in our office for many years and their experience shows. Our patients tell us they've never had as thorough-or as gentle-a cleaning as they receive here.
- Biolase laser for non-surgical periodontal treatments
In our office we use the Biolase laser for tissue contouring and for periodontal treatments. A laser is a powerful, predictable tool when it's in the hands of a skilled professional like Dr. Mahoney. The laser beam can be precisely directed to only the tissues needing treatment; it virtually eliminates bleeding while sterilizing the area at the same time. All of this translates to higher quality treatments, better outcomes, and greater comfort for patients.
- Diagnodent laser system
DIAGNOdent is a small, portable laser unit that can detect cavities on the chewing surfaces of back teeth, even when they just beginning, and would have been missed by previous detection methods. With DIAGNOdent we can stop cavities in their infancy, before decay has the chance to further damage your tooth.
- Tooth colored restorations (Cerec restorations)
We use CEREC tooth restoration to repair decayed and damaged teeth. This strong, tooth colored ceramic material closely matches the composition of natural tooth structure, restoring your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function. The CEREC materials are chemically bonded to your tooth, so we can save as much healthy tooth tissue as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that strengthens your tooth.
- Air abrasion
For certain small cavities, air abrasion can mean NO needles and NO drills. It is a relatively new technology in dentistry. A high powered stream of air, with powder, cleans decay from small cavities on the chewing surfaces of back teeth, allowing a white filling to be bonded in place. In the right circumstances it is quick, painless and conserves tooth structure.
- Intra-oral cameras
With these tiny cameras that go inside your mouth, Dr. Mahoney can take a closer look at any areas of concern. As an added bonus, you'll get to see what he's looking at as well, allowing you to be a more active partner in your dental care.
- Patient education
We encourage you to ask us any questions you have about your dental health or treatment. We'll be glad to explain any aspect of your dental care, and encourage you to let us know if there's something you don't understand or are unsure about. To help with our explanations, we use the CAESY education system. Caesy is an informative, colorful, multi-media program that includes more than 200 presentations on important dental topics, from hygiene and periodontal disease to cosmetic dentistry. Caesy will help you understand the need for treatment, your treatment options, and what can happen if your condition is not treated.
We'll do everything possible to make your visit pleasant and comfortable.
- A welcoming environment - You'll enjoy the homey atmosphere, with soothing colors, plants everywhere, comfortable couches and chairs and even a fireplace in the reception area.
- Watch your favorite DVD or TV show - Our TLC system is a track-mounted TV screen right above the dental chair so you can watch in comfort while receiving your dental treatment.
- Headphones, blankets and eyewear - You can listen to music, get warm if you're chilled, and simply feel safe knowing that your eyes are protected during your appointment.
- Oral sedation dentistry - If you're nervous about going to the dentist, oral sedation may be a good alternative. You simply take a pill before your appointment, have someone drive you to the dental office and then lightly doze as you're receiving your care. You'll be responsive to us-but you won't remember a thing afterwards.
